Evolution of the Pig FlowerThe pig flower is a funny, happy creation inspired by the work of a real child in collaboration with my inner one. Mariachi SnowmenIt was early December and too cool and damp to work outside on papier-mâché. My art buddy, Gilda suggested that we paint indoors on small pieces of cardboard, or, in my case, canvas board. We had been to an art sale in East LA where there were lots of Day of the Dead items. A favorite theme is musicas or skeletons playing instruments.

La CatrinaLa catrina is a pervasive figure in Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations. She has a husband, el catrin, who is much less popular. According to different traditions, they are Mr. and Mrs. Death, or just representations of rich people, who, like the rest of us, end up dead in the end despite the fancy clothes.
